We asked the Broadsided artists and writers to send us word of their recent accomplishments and adventures.

WRITERS
Dilruba Ahmed's poems are forthcoming in THE MARLBORO REVIEW and BORN MAGAZINE (www.bornmagazine.org). She is currently completing an MFA in creative writing at Warren Wilson College.

Christine Byl has had recent fiction published in So To Speak and Lumberyard Magazine, and is in search of the perfect press for her just-finished non-fiction manuscript, Dirt Work: An Education on the Ground. Christine was a resident at the Vermont Studio Center in February, and will be at the Headlands Institute for the Arts this November.

Patrick Carrington: Patrick's third collection of poems, the chapbook Hard Blessings, has been released by MSR Publishing (www.mainstreetrag.com). He has recently won New Delta Review's Matt Clark Poetry Prize and Yemassee's Pocataligo Poetry Contest, and been a finalist in contests at Black Warrior Review, Whiskey Island, New Milleniums, The Briar Cliff Review, and The Yalobusha Review. He has poems forthcoming in The Bellingham Review, West Branch, Bellevue Literary Review, The Georgetown Review, and American Literary Review.

Leslie Chang's work has appeared recently in Barrow Street and is forthcoming in American Poetry Review. Her daughter was born in August 2008.

Robin Ekiss was awarded a 2007 Rona Jaffe Foundation Writer's Award for Emerging Women Writers, and was an Artist-in-Residence at the Headlands Center for the Arts this past April, 2008. She has new poems forthcoming in American Poetry Review and New England Review. You can read more of her work at robinekiss.com.

Sean Hill: The University of Georgia Press published my debut collection, Blood Ties & Brown Liquor, earlier this year (www.seanhill.org). On a trip to Seattle, earlier this month, with the help of a friend, I triumphantly dug up a geoduck.

Ellaraine Lockie: "In the past year or so, I've been twice to Centrum in Port Townsend, WA, for poetry residencies and have received my eleventh Pushcart Prize nomination, the 2008 Writecorner Press Poetry Prize, the 2007 Elizabeth R. Curry Prize, and finalist status for the 2007 Joy Harjo Poetry Award. Recently released publications are Mod Gods and Luggage Straps, a poetry/art broadside from BrickBat Revue and my fifth chapbook, Blue Ribbons at the County Fair, a collection of first-place contest winning poems from PWJ Publishing."

Roy Seeger: "Actually, a bit has happened since I've been "Broadsided." My manuscript The Boy Whose Hands Were Birds was a semi-finalist for the Waywiser Press Anthony Hecht Prize who has posted two poems from the manuscript at waywiser-press.com/royseeger.html. That same manuscript won the Main Street Rag Poetry Book Contest and will be available in the Fall of 2008. Also, I accepted a full-professorship at the University of South Carolina Aiken."

Noel Sloboda's first poetry collection, Shell Games, is forthcoming from sunnyoutside. His poems can be found in recent or upcoming issues of bottle rockets, Free Verse, Gentle Strength Quarterly, Keyhole Magazine, Niteblade, Poems Niederngasse, Vulcan, and Waterways. His short fiction appears in 55 Word Stories, 365 Tomorrows, Mud Luscious, Pen Pricks, and Tuesday Shorts.

Cindy St. John completed her MFA at Western Michigan University in April and she now lives in Austin, TX, where it is much warmer. Her work is forthcoming in the summer issue of The Southern Review. She recently began a new sort of collaboration project she calls "collage poems," in which she makes poems from the language of the books she is reading, particularly from art books.

As the recipient of the 2008 Ellen Meloy Award for Desert Writers, Joe Wilkins will be traveling up the eastern front of the Rocky Mountains this summer. He and Johnny Cash, his dog in black, will be taking off for Texas around the first of June. His poem "The Names" will be featured on Slate around the same time, and he now has new work online at diode.

Amanda Warren: "I have had a few publications and some "close calls" since I was Broadsided in the Switcheroo II in November 2007. I was a finalist in the Chicago Poetry Center's 14th Annual Juried Reading, and a Finalist in Alice James Books 2008 Beatrice Hawley Award for my manuscript, Ridge-Runner. I also have a publication coming soon from Indiana Review. The biggest news isn't mine though... Roy Seeger, my partner, received a book deal and a job in the same weekend! We now live in Aiken, SC and will both be teaching English at University of South Carolina in Aiken."

Don Winter's work appears in the new anthology Seeds of Fire: Poetry from the Other USA (www.smokestack-books.co.uk). His most recent collection, No Way Out But In, is available at NYQ Poets. He will read August 7, 2008 at The Bowery Poetry Club in New York City, along with Adrienne Rich, Martin Espada, Amiri Baraka, and others. Proceeds will benefit Save the Children Fund.
