HELP PUT LITERATURE AND ART ON THE STREETS
Consider donating. Even $5 helps pay for web hosting and postcards. Of course, if you can give $50, $500 or even $5,000, we welcome your support. The button below will take you to a PayPal screen.
Thank you in advance. We truly appreciate your help and support.
We'll email you each month when the new Broadsided Press collaboration goes live. Downloading each month's original collaboration is free.
Getting a copy to put on your wall (or on a local notice board) costs you only a sheet of paper and some ink.
Broadsides have gone up on streets around the world from Chile to Alaska, Pakistan to Texas. We have lifted the veil on the creative process through our “Collaborators’ Q&A;” we have created space for art to engage with current world events through our “Responses” features; we have offered an annual translation feature which showcases work by a writer working in a language indigenous to the Americas; Vector Stories on our Tumblr demonstrate the powerful, joyous act of sharing Broadsides.
Your support has been a part of that, and we’ve been grateful to know you've been there. Thank you.
Now, we need to make our website into one that functions across platforms (phone, tablet, computer). We want to be able to search for a favorite broadside or find one by title, artist, or theme. We want flexibility, clarity, and seamlessness.
Beyond modernization, we at Broadsided want our website to be a better resource for educators. We want your collaborations to be used. This is happening already in universities, elementary schools, prisons, shelters, and other classrooms around the country. Part of our web redesign would include a TEACH section with field-tested lesson plans to further this work.
All this comes with a price tag—but a manageable one. Designing this searchable, responsive and beautiful site will cost $4,000. As in everything we do, we turn first to our collaborators—the poets, writers, artists, vectors, and designers who have been showcased by Broadsided.
The math is simple. If each of you is able to donate a mere $20, we are there. $25 would be even more phenomenal.
Broadsided is an all-volunteer operation. The beauty of this direct appeal is that every dollar will be used for the new website and our minimal operating costs.
We considered a Kickstarter-like campaign, but the time involved and the percentage taken out of what’s raised is disproportionate to our modest fundraising goal. Instead, we are beginning with this direct appeal to you.
We invite you to donate via PayPal or send checks made out to Broadsided Press to PO Box 24, Provincetown MA 20657.
We know that in the coming months, there will be a lot asked of all of you. Of all of us. We hope you can direct a bit of generosity toward this endeavor. Together we will broadcast Broadsided Press to more people, enhancing their daily lives through literature and art, for many years to come.
With thanks --
